Island Bay

Island Bay is a small rocky bay about an hour's walk north of Window Pane Bay. It gets its name from the group of small rocky islands clustered around the southern end of the bay.

A very steep scramble is required to get in and out of the bay. A rope is helpful for the final 20 metres or so to the rocks, especially when trying to get back out! There is no track to Island Bay; walkers must leave the main pad leading to Noyhener and find a route down the steep scrubby slopes by trial and error.
