Hobart to Melaleuca

Melaleuca, a tiny outpost deep in the heart of the South West Wilderness, is a hub for many extended walks into this wild and remote part of Tasmania.

Melaleuca can only be reached by boat, by light aircraft, or by foot. There are no roads in this region. Light aircraft operate regularly between Hobart and Melaleuca, tracking either along the south coast in poorer weather or directly over the Eastern Arthur Range in fine weather. Both routes offer spectacular scenery.
